Your Spyware is Killing My Spyware Scanner

Posted on Feb 28, 2011 in Uncategorized

One of the most common issues with the latest and greatest Spyware threats is this: With the Spyware running in the background you aren’t able to open up your Spyware Scanner, or most other applications for that matter, including Task Manager. Since you aren’t able to open your Task Manager you can’t kill the Spyware. It’s a vicious cycle that leaves most users ready to chuck their computer out of the nearest window.

If you haven’t thrown your computer out yet, there is a solution you should try first. This takes advantage of the fact that Spyware makers like to leave you the ability to run Internet Explorer on the off chance that you’ll install more Spyware.

1. Open My Computer.
2. Go to the C Drive.
3. Go to the Windows folder.
4. Go to the System32 folder.
5. Find the icon called taskmgr or taskmgr.exe
6. Copy this icon to your desktop. Make sure you Copy, if you move this file you could find yourself in bad shape later on.
7. Rename this icon to iexplore or iexplore.exe
8. Double-click the icon and enjoy the fact that you can now kill the running Spyware application and start up your Spyware Scanner.

Nice and simple and it might save you time, money, and frustration.
